After studying chemistry at UC Santa Barbara, winemaker Jonathan Keyes dropped out of college to take his first winery job with California's ultimate boutique winery, Sine Qua Non. He then traveled to Australia, honing in his winemaking skills down under with Two Hands Winery in the Barossa Valley. He then returned to assume the position of Cellar Master at Napa Valley's Outpost Wines, under the guidance of winemaker Thomas Brown. Currently, Jon is making wine for winemaking pioneer, Mark Herold.
Though he has a remarkable resume, the person he is inspired by the most is his wife. When Kaitlyn had a desire to start an Albariño label, Jon couldn’t wait to begin another fun project. And that’s exactly what this project is, fun! Since Jon dropped out of college to pursue his passion for wine, Dropout was a fitting name. It’s also a bit ironic because Kaitlyn is a 1st grade teacher and a strong proponent of education. Cheers!
The first thought Blake has every morning is artistic. Art inspires him, Art compels him, Art completes him.
From his youth in Napa, he’s found ways to express his artistic vision in every element of life. Progressing from crayons to pencils to watercolors, the core always remains an artist’s view of reality. Or of realities that ought to be.
Comic books remain a powerful source of his art. Their ability to turn images into stories affects him powerfully. The structure of the narrative of a story told primarily through images drives him to expand the possible.
The glass bottles of wine to him, as they were to one of his heroes - Rene Magritte, become a medium of artistic expression. Where the master Magritte used oils, Blake uses DecoColor opaque paint markers to turn an ordinary bottle into a piece of exceptional art. Blake’s clients for art bottles include famous wineries, athletes, musicians and corporations. But none of these compare to his love for the kids of DrawBridge - a charity for underprivileged children to which he devotes his time on a regular basis. Teaching art to those whose lives are so often bereft of beautiful things is his strongest motivation.
Inevitably, Blake has become inspired to make the wine inside the bottle as artistic as the exteriors he create. Rebellium Wines are his ultimate expression of his visions both artistic and in the blending of the exceptional vintages to which he has access. When one holds a bottle of Rebellium, one holds a piece of art - both inside and outside the bottle.
David joins the Rebellium team with over a decade of experience in the world of wine. He graduated from California State University with a degree in Marketing and spent some time in the diamond business before being bit hard by the wine bug.
“I was with a client at dinner and he brought a bottle of 1982 Petrus and my mind was blown. Tasting that wine as it evolved in the glass over a couple of hours I knew that I needed to know more.”
David went on to take a course in wine program management and passed his Certified Sommelier diploma on the first attempt.
After receiving his certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers he held positions working as wine director for famed Napa Valley chef Michael Chairello and managing direct to consumer sales for wineries such as Merryvale and Beaulieu Vineyard among other endeavors in the world of wine.
For the past 3 years, David has taken up a new passion. Spending his time with team Rebellium in support of our core values making an impact in our community to those in need.
